Problem Note 57577: You encounter delays when you start grid-launched workspace servers or when you sign on to the grid
It might take longer than expected to start a grid-launched workspace server or to sign on to the grid.
To confirm that this is the issue that you are encountering, run the bhist -l job-id command (the command contains the lower-case letter L, not the number 1) and review the bhist output for the job. When you encounter this problem, the output shows a delay between the Dispatched, Starting, and/or Running times:
C:\Windows\System32>bhist -l 523
Job <523>, Job Name <SASGrid:4836>, User <DOMAIN\account>, Project <default>,
Command <C:\SAS\Config\Lev1\SASApp\GridServer\sasgrid SAS
DAE MONHOST:MYSERVER SASDAEMONPORT:65513 SASCLIENTPORT:1>
Thu Feb 04 15:32:20: Submitted from host <myserver.sas.com>, to Queue
<normal>, CWD <C:\Users\account>, Requested Resources <SASApp>;
Thu Feb 04 15:32:21: Dispatched to <myserver.sas.com>, Effective RES_REQ
<select[(SASApp) && (type == any)] order[r15s:pg] >;
Thu Feb 04 15:32:21: Starting (Pid 7908);
Thu Feb 04 15:32:37: Running with execution home <C:\Users\account\AppData\Local
\Temp\>, Execution CWD <C:\Users\account>, Execution Pid <7924>;
On a healthy grid, the delay in these times shown in the output above would typically be only one second.
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
For this fix to be fully functional, you must also download and install the IBM Platform LSF fix documented in SAS Note 54800: "A drastic increase in time between job submission and job start occurs when large numbers of jobs are submitted."
